Hola from EAP Zamorano

I am writing this post from my new desk at DSEA, Zamorano.  I am not actually officially working or studying here, it is an academic arrangement and I am fortunate to be able to use the facilities while I am doing my fieldwork here in Honduras.  It is a huge blessing, the campus is beautiful, and lovely and quiet – no excuses for not getting on with my work now!

And so I am working.  Here’s an outline of my current tasks:

-Planning visits and interviews in Tegucigalpa, and a trip to San Pedro Sula, La Ceiba and Roatan in July-August.  If you are in any of those areas and are willing to talk to me about projecthonduras.com, please email or leave a comment here!

-Doing email interviews.  Although I am now based in Honduras it will be difficult for me to get to all the places I’d like to go, and I am not planning on spending any significant time in the US, so I have been experimenting (successfully) with email and instant messaging interviews.  If you are willing to answer 6-8 general questions about projecthonduras.com via email please let me know.

-Planning a presentation for the Conference on Honduras in Copan in September.  Hope to see you there!

-Ongoing sorting and organising of interview, email and other data already collected, following projecthonduras.com and related organisations on Facebook and Twitter and research related reading.

Today I have also spent significant time following news and twitter updates regarding the political crisis here in Honduras.  I’m watching with interest but very happy to stay in this beautiful and quiet part of the country for the next few days.
